Assessment is not a spreadsheet -- it's a conversation.
There are so many variables that distort the collection of accurate data. I do not trust the results of any practice standardized test given to my 7-12 grade students. They are so preoccupied with social, emotional and hormonal issues. The results differ day to day on any one of my students. Is it the test or the slurry of adolescence that stimulates their thinking...or non-thinking? How does one day of testing really define what they know? It does not, and should not, define them.
